The holiday season is finally here!  I know you are just as excited as I am, but I also understand that there might be a little more dread than excitement.  There’s decorating, gift shopping, present wrapping, parties to plan and attend … the list goes on and on.  This year, I’m using Wiggio to eliminate the stress of the holiday season.

We know the phrase, “what do you want for Christmas?” all too well.  For me, most of the stress with shopping is keeping track of what my friends and families want.  So, I created Wiggio groups for my friends and families. I started a conversation (or you can create a document), and asked what they wanted for Christmas.  Now, as people respond, all of their requests will be on my Feed, making it much easier for me to manage.

Additionally, I started a Wiggio group just for myself.  I created a to-do list and added all of the items I need to shop for.  I included due dates for each item and they were automatically added to my calendar.  What I love about the to-do list, is that I can come back and edit the list as many times as I need until it’s finalized. For even more convenience, I suggest that you download the Wiggio iPhone app so you can access your shopping list from your smartphone. This way, while you shop, you can view your list and shop at same time.

This will be the first holiday season where I have a place of my own (see above!).  So, as the only logical choice, my roommates and I decided to host a holiday party.  First, I created a Wiggio group for all of my friends we wanted to invite.  Then, I sent an availability request to see when everyone was available for our party.

When we decided on a date, I started another Wiggio group for my roommates.  I created to-do lists and assigned my fellow party planners various tasks with due dates. It helps to separate the lists by topic.  I created separate lists for catering companies to call, things to buy, what to cook, and when to decorate.

When I wasn’t sure what color table mats to buy, I created a poll and asked my roommates what they would prefer. When I am at the store already, I use the Wiggio app on my smartphone to text, email, or poll the other group members. I’ve used Wiggio to upload potential invitation cards, recipes, and playlists all to the folder tab of the group. There is a lot of room for creativity with Wiggio so I recommend using as many of the applications as possible!

Remember to Breathe

It’s not a marathon. I find myself getting so caught up in the whirlwind of preparing for the holidays that I forget to actually enjoy it. Remember, it’s a season not just a day, so try to breathe. Watch your favorite holiday movies (mine is Elf), go ice skating, decorate the tree with your friends. Whatever you do, make sure to relax and spend time with your friends and families.
